Diet Focus - What Should I Eat to Lose Weight?

Arthritis, body fat, lethargy, and body odor disappeared after I adhered strictly to the Organic Bodybuilding Diet in the months before my competitions. I felt incredibly healthy, energetic and could not sleep for more than six hours at night. I awoke each day feeling strong, rested and refreshed. A small cyst I had on my chest disappeared. My skin became incredibly clear, smooth and healthy.

The biggest change I made to my diet was to banish commercial beef to get ripped. After the competitions I ate a lot of commercial non organic beef and other processed foods and my arthritis and body odor returned. More than ever I am a believer that organic, wild, pastured, free-range, grass-fed, natural animals are the way to go.

Overeating after competitions is hard to avoid. I put on 12 lbs. in 2 days after my last competition. This is fine for me since my goal this summer is to try to gain back the mass and strength I lost from my contest dieting.

While away on a retreat last weekend I decided to indulge in breads, cakes, cookies, and cheese which I do not usually eat. I did not bring enough tuna cans, apples, etc. to last the weekend. The meals at the retreat were good and at least the breads and desserts were homemade. I wanted to keep up my calories so I thought one weekend of flour and sugar would not hurt me.

I felt terrible and lethargic after eating a lot of these desserts and baked goods. By Sunday morning I did not want to get out of bed and my skin started breaking out. I cut out the garbage and ate apples, tuna and drank a gallon of water. I immediately felt better. I discovered that sacrificing my health for gaining mass is no longer acceptable to me.

Whether you are gaining mass or leaning down- do it the healthy way. White sugar, white flour, processed foods and fast food are garbage. For building lean mass Lift Heavy weights and eat meat and potatoes! If you use healthy, pure whole foods to build your body the gains will be permanent.

What should I eat to lose weight?

People often ask me what they should eat to lose weight. I tell them First; get processed foods and fast foods out of your life, you will probably lose 10 lbs. or more just by doing this. Second; you must train yourself to eat 5-7 times a day to speed up your metabolism. You probably will lose 10 lbs. or more just from doing this. Third; you must train yourself to drink 1 quart of pure water per 50 lbs. of body weight daily.

Once you have mastered these 3 behaviors then you are ready to start looking at what is making you fat if you still want to. You may be all set.

How Location Based Services Are Mis-used?

The Global Positions System (GPS) satellites are free for anyone to use. However, to use it, a GPS receiver is required which is not free. In recent years these GPS receivers have become very small and embedded in mobile phones. This has given rise to many location based services. Though there are many LBS applications that are very useful, there are a few applications that are misused.

One of the location-based services as mentioned at http://www.m-indya.com is Child Tracking. In a study carried out by New Media Technologies students (2005) in Australia, they have detailed how this service can be misused. They state that,

In 1998 the US implemented the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act 1998 which limits the ways Web site operators and others may collect and disseminate information pertaining to customers under the age of 13. So far, Australia has not followed suit and does not seem to have a law, which directly protects children from technology such as the Internet. With the introduction of global positioning systems for tracking purposes, the issue of child protection needs to be addressed before this technology gets into the wrong hands and used for malicious purposes.

Some of the other consequences that may occur due to these services are the problem of parent-child relationship and also marital relationship. In their study they point out parents should negotiate with their teenagers an agreeable form of knowing where they are whether it be GPS on their phone or just a phone call to let them know where they are. This will ensure that the relationship will not be damaged through a form of mistrust.

And even between spouses each needs a bit of their own space and privacy, which will be jeopardised by the use of this service and may cause problems in marital relationships.

In a ZDNet news by Lisa Bowman (1999) speaks of some scary scenarios where this technology can be misused such as, Insurance companies could refuse to insure you, or charge you higher rates, unless you install a tracking system on your car. They could then tell if you drive over 55 or spend time in shady neighbourhoods where your car has a greater chance of being stolen. Or FBI and local police officials could have access to your whereabouts by simply logging onto a database attached to a cell phone, tollbooth or GPS tracker.

In yet another case a rental car company was sued by the customer for tracking him down using GPS. In a case that could help set the bar for the amount of privacy drivers of rental cars can expect, a Connecticut man is suing a local rental company, Acme Rent-a-Car, after it used GPS (Global Positioning System) technology to track him and then fined him $450 for speeding three times. (Robert Lemos, 2001).

A Wireless week (2003) article lists how even location based games can be misused. In Sweden, thousands of wireless game subscribers stalk each other using cell phones and location technology. In Japan, you can use a GPS-enabled cell phone to arrange a date, an application sometimes used by teenage prostitutes. In many countries around the world, a GPS-based game called "geocaching" is growing in popularity. Ever since Princess Dianas death the perils of stalking has come to the forefront in the media. The availability of such services will only help the stalkers.

As if these are not enough there are other privacy issues related to location based services. If you need further reference visit the website http://www.m-indya.com

How To Choose A Good Vitamin Supplement

There are innumerable patented vitamin supplements available in the market, but what is essential to us is to be determined, after properly understanding the relevance of supplements. The first and foremost concept is that the nutritional supplements are not food and do not take the place of real food. They are only boosters to our food.

Studies have revealed that vitamins from the natural food sources are having an absorption level of 77 to 93 per cent, while supplements have only 10 per cent absorption. Similarly, the minerals through natural plant sources have absorption level up to 63 to 78 per cent, while the artificial supplements have only 1 to 5 per cent.

The explanation for this dissimilarity is that in nature each vitamin and mineral molecule is attached to a protein molecule. It is Dr.Gunter Blobel who proved the fact and received Nobel Prize in 1999. According to him the molecule acted as a "chaperone" that tells the body that the vitamin and minerals are not just chemicals but a food. This discovery was the KEY for our understanding of how the vitamins and minerals getting into the blood stream and into the cells.

The vitamin in supplements is in the very basic isolated form of each vitamin, completely stripped of any protein.

There are three types of supplements, liquid, tablets and capsules. The liquid supplements are inconvenient in many respects. But they are perfect for those who are having trouble in swallowing pills and for children.

Tablets are formed by mixing vitamin supplements with organic or inorganic cements and compressed into its shape. There are coated tablets also. The dosage will be one or two tablets per day.

Capsules are loosely packed gelatine containers that dissolve quickly. This is better than tablets.

Vitamin supplements must be taken with meals, unless prescribed otherwise.

In the digestive process only 10 percent of the vitamins and minerals are absorbed by the body, with the aid of enzymes; they will get attached to the protein molecule. Without these protein Chaperones, the body will not accept the vitamins and minerals, and in the process the body will absorb some of these proteins chaperones which will be filtered out, later through kidneys. That is why the urine becomes yellow after taking a vitamin supplement. Excess riboflavin makes urine yellow, and indicates that the body is rejecting the 'foreign' chemicals.

TIPS FOR CHOOSING A SUPPLEMENT:

Remember that only 10 pr cent of the vitamins and minerals are absorbed by our body when we take the supplements. For example, 100mg of a B vitamin is needed to provide our body with about 10mg. This is enough.

Watch BP (British Pharma copoeia) indicators on the capsules to determine the quality of vitamin isolates which are easily dissolvable in the digestive process.

Look for Chelate or Chelated in relation to the minerals. This means that the minerals are attached to the protein before they are added to the supplement to improve absorption.

Also, watch for enzymes in the formulation to ensure mineral absorption, which are essential for attaching protein molecules to vitamins in digestion.

Look for a supplement that has a food base, which is concentrated plant material to which vitamins and minerals are added. This is the best option.

The most important factor is that the supplements should suit your body. One should definitely feel a noticeable difference in your health and energy within a few days with the supplements.
